Whangaroa
“The Marlin Capital of New Zealand” is renowned for its Big Game Fishing. Whangaroa lies just north of the Bay of Islands in Northland.

Sunseeker Lodge is a just a short walk to the Whangaroa Harbour waterfront and restaurant. From here you can launch your own boat or charter ours and experience World Class fishing. For those who want to keep their feet on dry land and fancy a really spectacular view out over the harbour and beyond, take the walking track up to the top of St. Paul's Rock (20 mins).

Boat & Kayak Hire
We have a 14ft aluminum boat fully licensed for hire which can carry up to five people and is very popular with our guests for fishing and cruising the harbour. We also have four sea kayaks complete with all safety equipment. These kayaks are ideal for gently exploring Whangaroa delightful waterfront.

Tauranga Bay
A short drive (approx 5 minutes) will take you to Tauranga Bay's Sandy Beach. A lovely place for a picnic and a swim.

Kauri Cliffs Golf Course
Approx 25 minute drive along a scenic coastal road will take you to the prestigious Kauri Cliffs Golf Course.

Matauri Bay
A 20 minute drive to Matauri Bay beachfront, great beach for swimming and snorkeling. You can also walk to the top of the hill to visit the Rainbow Warrior memorial.

Mangonui
A 30 minute drive north will take you to the Famous Mangonui Fish Shop in the quaint settlement of Mangonui. Browse around the gift shops of this historic fishing village and enjoy the best fish and chips in Northland. Another very short drive will take you to lovely picnic areas on the beach at Coopers Beach overlooking Doubtless Bay.

The Bay of Islands
We are located approx 45 minutes from the lively seaside town of Paihia. Enjoy looking around the sites and sounds of this delightful town or take the ferry across to historic Russell and visit the local pubs and shops. Take a day cruise from Paihia to the famous 'Hole in the Rock' or try one of the many adventure sports on offer.

90 Mile Beach
Take a day trip to 90 mile beach and visit Cape Reinga and witness the turbulent meeting of the calm blue Pacific Ocean and the tempestuous green Tasman Sea and even get to boogie board down huge sand dunes on the way.

Puketi Forest
Approx 30 minutes away is Puketi forest where you can view the mighty Kauri trees along an easy boardwalk. Longer guided walks through the forest are also available.

Cavalli Islands Diving
Dive the Greenpeace flagship the 'Rainbow Warrior' sunk out at the Cavalli Islands. This world class dive spot has so much to offer. Dive trips leave from Paihia (approx 45 mins from Sunseeker Lodge) and locally at Whangaroa Harbour a 5 minute walk from Sunseeker Lodge.

Kerikeri
The delightful Kerikeri Township is well worth visiting with its historic Stone Store and Kemp House. Spend a day visiting the art galleries, craft shops and perhaps have a leisurely lunch at one of the award-winning wineries or cafes. The Kerikeri Golf Course also offers a lovely way to spend an afternoon in the fresh air.
